Gailerhof is a small Boutique Hotel B&B, 3-star superior, in Welsberg (Monguelfo) in Val Pusteria (Puster Valley), South Tyrol, in the Dolomites. The house stands at 1,200 metres, on its own at the edge of the forest: meadows, woods and mountains all around, and nothing else.
We have 13 units: 5 double rooms and 8 Suite-Apartments. All Suite-Apartments have a kitchenette, two of them also a private Finnish outdoor sauna.
Breakfast is served between 7:30 and 9:30 am and is included in the price. Our GustoLounge Bar with fireplace is open daily from 4 to 9:30 pm, the honesty bar around the clock. Outside there are a sun terrace, a lawn with sun loungers and a panoramic bathtub with warm water, which you can use at any time without reservation. We don’t have a pool or a spa. You can rent e-MTBs from us, bikes and skis go into our storage rooms, and parking is free. On top you get the Südtirol Guest Pass, which lets you use public transport throughout South Tyrol for free.
Check-in is between 3 and 7 pm. If you arrive later, just let us know in advance. Check-out by 10 am. We don’t accept pets.
Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee) is 15 km away, Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) the same, about 15 minutes by car each. Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks) are 38 km away, to Rifugio Auronzo, about 50 minutes. Welsberg-Gsies railway station (Monguelfo-Casies) is 3 km away.
The farm has been in our family since 1411, the hotel building has existed since 1981 and we completely rebuilt it in 2018. Today it’s the two of us, Kati and Georg, who run Gailerhof. We’ve picked up a few awards too: the German Design Award 2020 in the category Excellent Architecture, the MUSE Design Award 2022 in Gold and the BIG SEE Architecture Award 2023, all three for the architecture by hoi°architektur.

Is breakfast included in the price?
Yes. All rates are per person and night including breakfast. We serve it at the table instead of a buffet: room guests in the GustoLounge or on the sun terrace in summer, guests of the Suite-Apartments directly in their apartment. You choose your breakfast and your time (between 7:30 and 9:30 am, on the hour and half hour) the day before from our breakfast menu; if you leave earlier, you get a breakfast box to take away.
Is there a restaurant or dinner at the house?
No, we are a B&B without a restaurant. In the evening we recommend restaurants nearby (Dine Around); the closest, Restaurant Nolè in Welsberg, is 2.7 km away. The GustoLounge Bar serves drinks, small snacks and South Tyrolean Gusto bites daily from 4 to 9:30 pm, with regional wines and beer; the honesty bar is open around the clock.
Is there a pool or spa?
No pool or spa. Instead there’s a panoramic outdoor bathtub with warm water that all guests can use at any time without reservation, and two Suite-Apartments have their own Finnish outdoor sauna on the balcony with mountain views, completely private and without time slots. Water parks nearby: Cron4 near Bruneck, Acquafun in Innichen and the Caravan Park in Sexten.
How far is it to Lago di Braies, Kronplatz and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo?
Lago di Braies (Pragser Wildsee, also known as Lake Braies) is 15 km away, about 15 minutes by car; Kronplatz (Plan de Corones) also 15 km (15 minutes); Prato Piazza (Plätzwiese) 17 km; and the Tre Cime di Lavaredo (Three Peaks) 38 km to Rifugio Auronzo (about 50 minutes). Access and reservation for Lago di Braies and Prato Piazza in summer: www.prags.bz. Welsberg-Gsies railway station is 3 km away. With the Südtirol Guest Pass, which you get from us for free, you travel on buses and trains throughout South Tyrol at no charge.
Is Gailerhof suitable for families?
Yes. The Suite-Apartment Family (36 m², 2 adults and up to 2 children) and the Suite-Apartment Family Small (2 adults and 1 child) have a sofa bed and a kitchenette; cots are available on request. Children’s rates apply to children as the 3rd and 4th person in the apartment, per child and night: up to 1.99 years free, 2 to 5.99 years €35, 6 to 13.99 years €55. Around the house there are meadows and woods without through traffic. Nearby: Little Kronplatz, Olperls Mountain World on Mt. Helm and the kingdom of the Giant Haunold.
Are pets allowed at Gailerhof?
No, pets are not allowed. This also applies to small dogs and to all categories, double rooms and Suite-Apartments alike.
